WHAT HAVE WE DONE at St Dionysius SO FAR?

Here are some of the changes we have made since joining Eco Church:

  1. We have switched to a green energy provider for our church premises.

  2. We have changed to using environmentally friendly cleaning products in our church.

  3. Services that focus on creation care are now part of the annual structure of services, with a special emphasis during the 5 Sundays of Creationtide every September/October, with prayer for the issues around climate change an integral part of our services throughout the year.

  4. Our church buildings are used for a number of recycling initiatives – for example, we have a crisp packet recycling scheme box; we have run events which collect used tools for overseas; we hold events in which pre-loved clothing is given to the local community.

  5. We took part in a town-wide Plastics Pledge, encouraging people to move away from single-use plastic.

  6. Our building has been used for a number of eco events, such as supporting local school strikes.

  7. Several members of our congregations are involved in local environmental groups, or engage with our local MP on environmental issues, or take part in national climate lobby groups of various kinds.
