Christian Aid Midlands Volunteers’ Conference
Friday 20th-Sunday 22nd January, Hothorpe Hall, Theddingworth. GOING DEEPER - Deeper Knowledge, Deeper Understanding, Deeper Faith.
Main speaker: David Pain, Christian Aid’s Director of Marketing and Supporter Care.
For one weekend, Christian Aid will be holding a Volunteers’ Conference where volunteers from around the region can come together, share ideas and be re-energised and inspired by partner stories. The weekend will include worship, bible study and reflection as well as learning how to make the most of your volunteering.
Cost: £165 for a single room or £130 if sharing.

FREE Sport Makers workshop at Leicester Tigers!
Come and join us at a free informal and interactive Sport Makers workshop on 24th January 6-9pm and find out how you can become one of 40,000 like-minded people who are making a difference to the lives of their friends, colleagues or local community by making sport happen.
As a Sport Maker you will be helping to deliver the official London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games sporting legacy by helping more people play more sport. And you will even receive some free adidas kit for getting involved!

Olympic and Paralympic resources
A number of people across the diocese have asked for resources for use in the Olympic and Paralympic year to help reflect further on the links between sport and faith. A number have already been published with more to follow. These include service resources, links to other papers and even a guide to Olympic based films or memorable events. Team Mission Group
The Team Mission Group is holding its first meeting of 2012 on Thursday January 26th at 7-30pm. The speakers will be Viv and David Bull telling us about Mission on the Waterways from their experiences over many months and years traversing England’s canals. The meeting will be held at the Old School Building now part of Brooke House at the junction of Coventry Road and School Lane.
The group meets once a month normally on the last Thursday of the month. Any exceptions to this will be posted nearer the time. Please see the Team Mission Group notice board near the entrance to St Dionysius Church for the latest information.
During 2012 the group will further enhance its links with two areas of mission that it has been involved with over many years. They are the links with Peru and Pakistan.
The group is open to all members of the Team Churches and we welcome people of all ages who have an interest in the world and God’s mission in it.

Listening Skills Training
An Acorn Christian Foundation Course, suitable for use at home, work and church, is offered at The Bower House, 32 Coventry Road. Saturdays 28th January and 11th February, 9.30am - 12.45pm. £12 plus £3 for course booklet.

Parish of the Transfiguration
June Fair 2012
The June Fair will take place on the 16th June, and we are looking for all sorts of help to make our day a BIG success. Would you like to run a stall or a game or a fun race? Help is also needed for Teas etc.
We also need a ground crew to put up Tables, Gazebos and a Marquee, and MOST IMPORTANTLY to dismantle them at the end of the day. Come on Chaps – we need you!
The next meeting for the June Fair will be at St. Nicholas Church Extension on Tuesday 31st January at 7pm.

Lord-Lieutenant Young People Award 2012
Do you know any young people from Leicestershire, aged 13 to 19 years old, who have made an outstanding contribution in their community, inspired others with their creativity and innovation in music, arts, technology or engineering? They may have excelled in sport, team work or maybe through volunteering in sport. If so, nominate them now for the Lord-Lieutenant Young People Award 2012.
The awards will reflect the once in a lifetime double celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the 30th Olympiad. The closing date for nominations is January 31st 2012.
