A prayer for when someone dies

Lord Jesus, I come to you this day with all my feelings of loneliness, uncertainty and confusion. I cannot quite believe that ...... has gone. their death seems so unreal and yet I know they are no longer here with me. I thank you for all the special memories I have of ........., they can never be taken away,. help me come to terms with their passing, it seems so hard at the moment. help me in my weakness to know that they are at peace with you, and give me the strength to get through this day, this hour, this moment. Amen

Jesus' life, death and rising to new life on the first Easter morning shows that life is stronger than death, that peace is stronger than war and that love is stronger than hate.

Prayer for those who mourn

O God, who brought us to birth,
and in whose arms we die,
in our grief and shock
contain and comfort us;
embrace us with your love,
give us hope in our confusion
and grace to let go into new life;
through Jesus Christ.
